Ditch using your nails as tools.

Most of us are fond of peeling labels, opening soda cans or basically using your nails to do simple manual tasks that are best accomplished with tools such as scissors. The best way to stop this is to have tools or their substitutes next to you.

Apply strengthening treatments

You may want to apply a nail hardener to help strengthen and protect your nails while they grow. Nail hardeners will help to prevent chips and breaks that force you to trim your nails back before they reach the desired length. You could also get acrylic nails from your nails which is an essentially easy way to prevent nail biting.

Consume meals that readily contain Vitamin H

Foods that contain biotin are your surest way to get longer nails within a short period of time. This includes foods such as bananas, whole grains, salmon, and avocado.  Biotin promotes the growth and strength of nails, hair, and skin. Folic acid or Vitamin B9, such as fish, red meat, cheese, and fortified soy products can also be advantageous to the whole process.

Avoid exposure to water

This one is harder to do than it actually sounds. Every day, we interact with water in one way or another. However, you can limit the amount of water your nails come into contact with and always remember to keep your nails well moisturized with oil and cuticle oil

Get regular manicures.

Manicures remove the rough edges, dry cuticles, and hangnails we tend to pick at and get caught on things. However, make sure the treatment is gentle since nails and cuticles are much more delicate than people realize.
